Jelili Adebisi Omotola Hall (Formerly Multipurpose Hall), University of Lagos, Akoka, Yaba, Lagos state, is currently hosting the 17th Nigerian International Book Fair (NIBF) which commenced on the 7th of May 2018, according to the NIBF official website.
The on-going fair, which has grown to become the second largest international book fair in Africa, has attracted stakeholders in the book industry from around the globe.
At the fair venue, which itself is a beehive of activities, exhibitors from both inside and outside Nigeria, have displayed books and other learning materials and the prices have been drastically slashed to enable visitors to easily buy books at more affordable prices than would otherwise have been obtained on the open market.
According to the NIBF website, “Book is an integral part of learning. Book plays a major role in knowledge acquisition and transmission. In order to ensure and encourage knowledge acquisition and transmission, book must be accessible and affordable to all and sundry”. This is one reason why the fair organizers have created this annual platform for book sellers, book lovers and other seekers of knowledge to interact for the mutual benefit of all.
The curtains would be drawn on this year’s Nigerian International Book Fair on Saturday the 12th of May 2018.
The next NIBF is slated for 6th May, 2019.
